Stage 7: When should you continue, change or stop?
Last updated

Make the final decision about the work, not the attractiveness of the dashboard.
| Finding | Proposed decision |
|---|---|
| No recurring high-priority gap; little customer evidence of relevance | Reduce monitoring and return effort to higher-priority work |
| Clear technical/factual improvements; answer movement remains uncertain | Keep the useful fixes; continue only a bounded observation period |
| Recurring shortlist gap; product fit is genuine; intervention remains plausible | Fund a narrow next experiment |
| Scores changed mainly because prompts, engines or methods changed | Establish a new baseline; withdraw unsupported improvement claims |
| Findings cannot be implemented | Pause measurement expansion and resolve ownership |
| Supplier cannot provide methods or usable exports | Do not rely on its score for renewal decisions |
| Sensitive inaccuracies remain unresolved | Escalate correction work independently of visibility targets |
Your final memo should state: what was tested, what changed, what the evidence supports, what remains unknown, what was spent and what decision follows.
Do not extrapolate a small test into a revenue-loss estimate. Do not promise permanent inclusion. Google explicitly says that meeting requirements does not guarantee crawling, indexing or serving. (developers.google.com)
