6. What prompts should a B2B SaaS company track for AI search visibility?

Start with customer buying questions, not a list generated solely from your homepage. Separate unbranded discovery, competitor comparisons and branded fact-checking because they answer different business questions.

Ahrefs, for example, distinguishes its broader prompt dataset from customer-defined tracked prompts. Its documentation allows a buyer to select the question, assistant, location and refresh frequency; the existence of a large underlying dataset does not remove the need to define your own decision-relevant sample. Below is a proposed 24-prompt template, not evidence of actual query demand. Replace the placeholders and remove questions that do not reflect your market.

Buying themeFour proposed questions
Category discoveryWhat software helps a US [team] solve [problem]?; Which [category] platforms suit a [size] company?; What should we evaluate before buying [category]?; Which providers belong on an initial [category] shortlist?
Product requirementsWhich platforms support [integration]?; What tools support [deployment requirement]?; Which products offer [specific workflow]?; Which vendors document [security requirement]?
Economics and implementationWhat does [category] software usually charge for?; Which options suit [budget constraint]?; What should we ask about migrating from [system]?; Which providers support [implementation constraint]?
Alternatives and comparisonsWhat are alternatives to [competitor]?; How do [competitor A] and [competitor B] differ for [use case]?; Which providers should we compare with [competitor]?; When is a specialist better than an all-in-one platform?
ShortlistingRecommend three providers for [detailed situation].; Which vendors meet [two essential requirements]?; What should our procurement team verify before shortlisting [category]?; Which options should we exclude given [constraint]?
Branded accuracyDoes [our product] support [integration]?; How is [our product] priced?; What security documentation does [our company] publish?; Who is [our product] suitable—and unsuitable—for?

Attach provenance to every prompt: customer interview, sales-call theme, support ticket, site-search query or analyst hypothesis. Keep hypotheses visible until sales or customers validate them.
