What is the market telling buyers now?
Last updated

There is evidence of paid adoption and substantial supplier investment, but not a defensible US-only market total. The useful buying evidence is more concrete: published package prices, transaction-based adoption data, disclosed financing and acquisitions, and the difference between monitoring fees and implementation commitments.
Five findings matter most:
- A published global forecast exists, but it is not measured US expenditure. MarketsandMarkets estimates the global GEO market at $390 million in 2025, forecasting $4.25 billion by 2032. Treat these as commercial research estimates, not audited market accounts. (marketsandmarkets.com)
- The selected recent funding ledger totals $337 million across four rounds at three companies. These are AirOps, Peec AI and Profound announcements between 14 November 2025 and 15 September 2026. This measures capital raised—not customer spending or a complete industry funding total. (airops.com)
- Consolidation is no longer hypothetical. Adobe completed its Semrush acquisition on 28 April 2026, with $1.87 billion of consideration reported in its filing. Sitecore announced that it had acquired Scrunch on 3 June 2026; its announcement did not disclose consideration. (sec.gov)
- Current pricing must be checked at source. Profound’s brand pricing page now presents a free trial and custom Enterprise pricing, rather than a publicly priced ongoing brand subscription. Scrunch publishes both monthly and annual-billing prices. (tryprofound.com)
- Agency commitment can matter more than the monthly headline. WebFX advertises an entry price of $3,000 per month with a six-month commitment: $18,000 of stated-term fees, calculated before any separately agreed costs. (webfx.com)
Desk recommendation: buy a defined measurement or implementation capability against a documented problem. Neither a large funding round nor a fast-growing discovery channel establishes that a particular buyer needs a large GEO retainer.
